Getting Started with ATM10
Obviously, there are countless directions you can go with a mod pack like ATM 10, but here's how I'd start this pack, with a quick start in Easy Villagers and Productive Bees.
the Easy Villagers Mod
The Easy Villagers mod simplifies managing villagers by allowing you to pick them up with a shift-right click and place them into specialized blocks for various purposes. Here’s how you can use this mod to create a breeder block, a trading block, and an iron farm block, all of which streamline your villager-related operations.
Breeder Block
To start with the Easy Villagers mod, you’ll need to gather some villagers. Simply approach a villager and use a shift-right click to pick them up. Once you have your villagers, you can place them into the Breeder block. The Breeder block will automatically handle villager breeding for you, provided it has a supply of food (like bread, carrots, potatoes, or beetroots). This setup ensures a steady stream of new villagers without the hassle of traditional breeding setups.
Trading Block
The Trading block in Easy Villagers is incredibly versatile. You can place a villager into this block and provide any workstation to turn them into the corresponding profession. For example, if you supply a Cartography Table, the villager will become a Cartographer. This flexibility allows you to set up a variety of trading operations based on your needs.
In my setup, I created a Cartographer Trading block to get a Trial Chambers map. By connecting the Trading block to a sugar cane farm and an auto-crafter that converts sugar cane into paper, I ensured a steady supply of paper for trading. This efficient system allowed me to gather emeralds and acquire the Trial Chambers map without manual intervention.
Iron Farm Block
The Iron Farm block is another powerful feature of the Easy Villagers mod. By placing villagers into this block along with a Zombie (which can also be picked up with shift-right click), you can create a compact and efficient iron farm. This setup automates the production of iron, eliminating the need for complex iron golem farms and providing a consistent supply of this essential resource.
Incubator Block
The Incubator block is an essential tool for speeding up the growth of baby villagers. Once you have baby villagers from the Breeder block, you can place them into the Incubator block to accelerate their maturation process. This block ensures that you have a steady supply of adult villagers ready to be placed into other blocks like the Trading or Iron Farm blocks. It’s a great way to streamline your villager management and keep your operations running smoothly.
Getting Started with Easy Villagers
- Picking Up Villagers: Approach a villager and use shift-right click to pick them up.
- Breeder Block: Place villagers into the Breeder block and supply it with food to automate villager breeding.
- Trading Block: Place a villager into the Trading block and provide any workstation to turn them into the desired profession. For example, a Cartography Table can be used to create a Cartographer for acquiring maps.
- Iron Farm Block: Place villagers and a Zombie into the Iron Farm block to automate iron production.
The Easy Villagers mod simplifies villager management and automates many tasks that would otherwise be time-consuming. By integrating this mod into your gameplay, you can focus more on building and exploring while your automated systems handle the rest.
Getting Started with Productive Bees
Productive Bees offers a fun way to automate resource gathering using dozens of different types of bees. I was fortunate enough to spawn near a beehive, but you can also find vanilla bee hives in the wild. These hives are essential for collecting honey and honeycomb, both of which are required to craft advanced bee hives and bee cages.
Finding and Housing Bees
To get started with Productive Bees, begin by locating bees in the wild. Once you've found a hive, you can collect honey and honeycomb to create your first advanced bee hives. Additionally, you can craft specialized nests to attract specific types of bees. For example, an oak log nest can be used to attract carpenter bees, which are necessary for breeding lumber bees.
Advanced Hives and Expansions
Advanced bee hives are a significant upgrade from vanilla hives, offering more slots for bees and additional functionality. These hives can be further expanded with upgrades that improve their efficiency and productivity. With the right expansions, your bee hives can become a powerhouse of resource generation.
Specialized Bees
One of the unique aspects of Productive Bees is the specialized bees that operate on their designated blocks rather than flowers. For instance, a lumber bee requires a log of the specific type of wood you want it to produce. This specialization allows for targeted resource production, making your bee operations highly efficient and tailored to your needs.
Summary
- Finding Bees: Locate vanilla bee hives in the wild to collect honey and honeycomb.
- Specialized Nests: Craft nests like the oak log nest to attract specific bees, such as carpenter bees for breeding lumber bees.
- Advanced Hives: Upgrade to advanced bee hives for increased slots and functionality, and use expansions to boost productivity.
- Specialized Bees: Utilize bees like the lumber bee, which operate on specific blocks to produce targeted resources.
Productive Bees is a versatile and powerful mod that adds a new layer of automation and resource management to your Minecraft world. By leveraging the unique mechanics of this mod, you can streamline your operations and enjoy the benefits of a well-organized and productive bee farm.
Where to go next?
Once you've set up your initial automation with the Easy Villagers mod and Productive Bees, you might be wondering what to tackle next. Here are a few suggestions, and where I'd go next.
Pipez Mod or Modular Routers for Early Automation
For early automation solutions, look into the Pipez mod and Modular Routers. Pipez offers a simple yet powerful way to transfer items, fluids, and energy between machines. Modular Routers provide a flexible system for item handling, allowing you to route items in various directions and automate complex processes with ease. Getting started with these mods will streamline your resource management and improve efficiency in your base.
Mekanism for Ore Processing and the Cardboard Box
Mekanism is a comprehensive mod that adds advanced machinery and automation capabilities to Minecraft. Begin with ore processing to multiply your ore yields and gain more resources from your mining efforts. Additionally, the cardboard box is a handy tool that allows you to move blocks and machines without breaking them, making base reorganization a breeze. Mekanism's versatile features will significantly enhance your technological progression.
To get started with Mekanism, you'll need to mine Osmium.
Applied Energistics 2 for Advanced Storage and Auto Crafting
Applied Energistics 2 (AE2) revolutionizes storage and crafting with its advanced systems. Start by setting up an ME (Matter Energy) network to store vast amounts of items in a compact and easily accessible manner. As you progress, explore auto crafting to automate the creation of complex items, saving time and effort. AE2's powerful storage solutions and automation capabilities will become indispensable as your base and resource needs grow.
How to get Shaders on All the Mods 10?
In my video and screenshots, you may notice that I'm using Shaders for All the Mods 10, but it's not supported yet in 1.21. You can download dev versions of Iris and Sodium from the Iris discord.
You can download them and install them into your mods folder. You'll need to disable Embeddium which comes with ATM10 or the game will crash (Sodium and Embeddium conflict, and Iris isn't yet compatible withy Embeddium on 1.21).
- Go to the Iris Discord
- Locate the #unstable-releases channel
- Find the post with Iris and Sodium downloads.
Once that's running, install your favorite shader pack. I'm using Complementary Reimagined.
